"I wanna know how black people eating watermelon is racist. Watermelon is delicious." It's not in itself. Nothing like eating watermelon should be considered racist. But unfortunately there is a history behind it, most likely due to the fact that slaves were given cheaper food like chitlins as well as watermelon. So associating black people with watermelon became sort of a "racist trademark" if you will. The hypocrisy in it though is that basically anyone who even associates a black person with watermelon will be accused of racism even if they had no idea about the contextual history. This happened recently with a soda company who put a white boy and black girl on a watermelon flavored soda. Even though they had a white kid on it too, they were automatically accused of racism. So basically the rule is, you can't show black people with watermelon or it's racist. Apparently KFC gets a pass because they frequently have commercials with black people eating fried chicken. I REALLY wish we could get past the idea that every stereotype has racist intentions and that different groups of people do enjoy different things for different reason. At this point it's really more of a cultural issue and is no more racist then suggesting white males enjoy Nascar. Intentions are what are racist, not watermelon, fried chicken, or Nascar.

The title is inaccurate. They story is interesting though. Tea partiers aren't anti-government, they are anti BIG government. Also, I think it's wrong to paint tea partiers as extremists. It's as though government is saying, "Anyone disagreeing with the health care bill is an anti-government extremist."It's exactly the kind of ***** left-wingers got their noses out of joint about under the Bush administration. Dissent, they claimed, was patriotic and people were insulting their patriotism.Here, we have the commander in chief, a leader of the government, making another statement about dissent as extremist.
