Unfortunately campaign trails are always littered with promises one might not make true on. They could have the best of intentions to keep all those promises, but the fact of the matter is that this isn't a dictatorship, and the President (however unfortunate this is sometimes) has to deal with working and compromising with others.

Although this ABC poll was conducted a few years ago, it demonstrates that the Republican party, and especially GOP conservatives are strong advocates of big brother, government. 4 in 5 Republicans favor our government spying on us.
