Actually they can but it needs a good distribution system to make it all work.Lest say Canada generates 8 gigawatts more than it needs and New York State Generates 8 gigawatts more than it needs but Cali is having a slow day. What if Mexico was having a good day generating a further 10 Gigwatts about 50% more than it needsCanada, New York state and Mexico could power Cali from the excess.
